Bargello quilt in reds and greens
This is the first Bargello quilt I made. By then, I'd discovered more than one quilt store in the area, had joined a quilting
group, and was learning about a whole new world. One of the ladies in this quilting group taught us how to make a Bargello
in a weekend. We cheated a bit by sewing all the strips together before, but we did manage to get the complete top done
in two days. I did not select the fabrics myself - I still had trouble getting color values and contrasts right. My quilting ladies picked
good for me, didn't they? This quilt was even on display in one of the windows of a local store Christmas 1996 - I was
very proud they thought it nice enough! It's machine-pieced and hand-quilted.
This is also the first quilt into which I introduced an "accent strip" to set off the border from the pattern. I just learned
that it's called a "Sarah Strip" (Hi Sarah!).
