Small quilts from 1989 to today |
|
|
Another baby quilt - this one was for Katharina, the baby girl of two friends of ours. The mother loves Janosch, so it had to be a
Janosch-QUilt! This was a joint effort of the quilt group she and I belong to. The quilt was machine-pieced and hand-quilted. |

Another baby quilt - this one was for Jonas, the son of friends born on the first day of 2006. The squares are
all animal prints. The quilt was machine-pieced and machine-quilted. |

Another baby quilt - this one was for my new nephew Noah. The squares are
all animal prints. The quilt was machine-pieced and hand- and machine-quilted. |

Another baby quilt - this one was for my vets who had a baby in December 2002. The squares are
all animal prints. The quilt was machine-pieced and hand- and machine-quilted. |

Another baby quilt - my version of an "I Spy" quilt. When I first started buying
and asking for fabric with children's themes, I thought I'd never use them all up - now that many of my friends are having
babies, I'm glad I have these fabrics! The quilt was machine-pieced and machine-quilted. |

A quilt I made from scraps only. I started round a hexagon (I think..), and just sewed
strips on until I had a size from which I then cut 20 cm squares at an angle that looked good. The quilt was machine-pieced
and machine-quilted, and took only two nights to make. Reggie approved it at first sight! |

|
A quilt I made for my niece Johanna. The pattern is a square version of the
Keepsake pattern "Cat in a Maze", which I modified - the mouse has a little exit at the bottom left corner! |
|
|
|
A quilt I made for my youngest niece, Leah. The blocks are made up of animal prints,
and I deliberately tilted some of the blocks in the "wrong" direction, so Leah can go look for them when she's a bit older. |

A Double Wedding Ring I started ages ago and then put away because I was so disappointed
that you could not tell it was made from so many different fabrics - not just one light and one dark one.
From three feet away, they all sort of blend into each other. And I was so proud I managed to get this
thing together by machine! Don't exactly know when I started this one, but it was before 1996. I finally dug it out again, set
it off-center on the dark lavender background to give it some unusual setting, and hand-quilted it fairly extensively. |

A kitty quilt I made for our cat Reggie. I used up the last strips I had left over from the
Underwater Reflections and Joy wall quilts. |

|
A kitty quilt for a lady from the newsgroup rec.pets.cats.community. I started the quilt when her cat was fighting
Diabetes and she was desperate because the medication wasn't working. The white cat in the middle is her "Buddy".
Sadly, when his diabetes was finally under control, he developed a fast-growing brain tumor and died. |

A kitty quilt for another lady from the newsgroup rec.pets.cats.community. I had started the quilt when she had four cats,
but she got my design all messed up when she added another two! These last two I fudged in by appliqueing them afterwards -
I had already basted the quilt when she adopted Jordan and Pippen. I tried to use fabrics that reflected the real cats' coloring
somewhat. Machine-pieced and machine-quilted. |

|
A kitty quilt for our QIs. I started this one without the least design in my head. Just sewed strips,
then cut them into triangles, and tried to piece these together in some sort of harmonious fashion.
None of the points match the way they should, but our QIs love it!
Machine-pieced and hand-quilted. |

|
Another kitty quilt for our QIs. Machine-pieced and hand-quilted. This was a test for a larger wall quilt I made later on. |
|
|
|
Another kitty quilt for our QIs, made from scraps of a lap quilt. Machine-pieced and hand-quilted. |

A baby quilt I made for our landlady (she wanted it for her first great-grandson). Machine-pieced and hand-quilted. Date: Sept-Nov. 1991 Size: 150 x 110 cm / 59" x 43" |

A baby quilt I made for a collegue. Machine-pieced and hand-quilted. Date: January 1990 Size: 135 x 110 cm / 53" x 43" |
|

|
A baby quilt I still own. I went a little crazy on it with the hand-quilting... Machine-pieced and hand-quilted. Date: January 1990 Size: 80 x 80 cm / 31" x 31" |

This is a quilt I made for my niece Eva. The appliques depict simple things for which children learn the words fairly early. The white fabrics show parachuting teddy bears, hearts, and little sailboats. The quilt is machine-pieced and hand-quilted. Date: Spring of 1989 Size: 150 x 150 cm / 59" x 59" |

This is a quilt for my cousin Katja's first child. As you can tell, I had no great clue as to color schemes and light/darks yet. Neither had I heard of strip-piecing yet. Machine-pieced and hand-quilted. All in all, I now think this is a little boring.... Date: Autumn 1988 Size: 120 x 120 cm / 47" x 47" |
