Some of my other sewing projects

A pillow for Nancy, a wonderful lady who was one of our hosts in New Zealand in 2003 and 2005. The tumbling blocks in the middle are woven with strips of fabric. March 2009.

Baby hot water bottle for a friend's baby born in April 2006. Actually, it's not a hot water bottle at all - the filling is some grain that can be heated in the microwave. No idea what that would be called... It's made with yellow and black fleece. May 2006.

Pillow with Escher-like graphic for a good friend. Sometime in 2005.

Placemats our quilt group made for the wedding of one of our members - to match her plates. Summer of 2004.

Stars I made for friends on Christmas 2004.

A star I made for a dear lady who was one of our hosts in New Zealand in 2002. December 2004.

A pillow I made for a dear collegue for her retirement. February 2005.

Potholders I made for hosts we bed-and-breakfasted with on our vacation in New Zealand. August 2003.

A pillowcase I made for hosts we bed-and-breakfasted with on our vacation in New Zealand. August 2003.

A sofa throw I made for good friends. November 2003.

Some table mats I made for the Japanese stoneware we own. Made January 2003.

A small quilt I made to cover our stove plate. Sewn in January 2003.

My favorite bag for carrying UFOs around. This was my first try at Seminole strip piecing. Made in 2001, I believe.

A bag for storing a two-person sleeping bag. Made for a friend and his lady in March 2001. I sewed this in one day and made good use of some fabric scraps I wasn't sure what to do with. I added a sturdy strap on the side so you can sling the bag over your shoulder.

Two shopping bags I made for a dear friend and his lady when they moved in together. I copied the patterns for the optical illusions from a book about Escher. June 2000.

A block I made as a present for a visiting quilter from the U.S. The castle is Neuschwanstein, a fairy-tale type castle built by King Ludwig of Bavaria (American tourists have been heard to call it "Crazy Louis' Castle". October 1999.

A large bag for carrying my fabric around... Made during a weekend quilting class I took where the teacher taught various bag patterns. Finished in 1999.

Two shopping bags made out of the fabrics Ellen from Ohio sent me. 1999.

A shopping bag made out of the kitty fabrics I was sent via squishies from some of the members of the R.C.T.Q. newsgroup. The item on the left is the Millenium Tie I have had to sew 10 times already. It's made out of the dark blue Y2K fabric Ellen from Ohio and Terry (also from R.C.T.Q) sent me. I stitched a "Y2K" on the bottom third of the tie and made it look similar to the Yves Saint-Laurent logo. Sewn in 1999

Our bags for the sleeping bags when they are not squished into their small travel bags.

A doll I made from scratch, so to speak. I sewed her body from a skin-colored T-shirt-like material, stuffed it with polyester batting, and made the face by glueing the fabric over a plastic mask. I inserted wires in her arms and legs so they can be bent into position. For the clothes, I'm using 50-year-old lace I got from a friend, and am sewing it onto tea-dyed fabric. As you can see, I lost enthousiasm half-way through. The dress is in pieces so far, and I just need one quiet weekend to finish it off. The doll should really be in the UFO section...

Assorted pillows for children. The motifs are from a children's TV progam that explains how things work - "Die Sendung mit der Maus". 1998.

Assorted rucksacks for children. The motifs are from the children's TV progam -"Die Sendung mit der Maus", and from a children's program with the elephant "Benjamin Blümchen". 1998.
