Quilt 16

National Parks of the West, between lap and bed size
This is a quilt I made for my brother Uwe and his wife Monika. They married in Las Vegas and spent their honeymoon in some of the National Parks in the West, so I appliqued some of the rock formations in these parks on the quilt. Do you recognize them? From top left going clockwise, it's Balancing Rock and Delicate Arch in Arches NP, one of the rock formations in Monument Valley, Needles in Canyonlands NP, and Landscape Arch in Arches NP.
This was the first quilt I designed on the PC, using QuiltPro. I found that color selection and layout of the blocks could be tried out really easily with QuiltPro, and I had a very good idea of what the finished quilt would look like after only about three hours of playing with the program.
Machine-pieced and appliqued, hand-quilted.
Date: Sometime in 1998
Size: 160 x 160 cm / 63" x 63"
